MOVES to modernise and privatise parts of Cumbria County Council could save the authority up to £25 million over the next four years, according to a council report.

This spring, CCC brought in consultants PriceWaterhouseCooper to carry out a root-and-branch review of service delivery in the authority, which could eventually see a number of council departments sold off, privatised or run by public private partnerships.

A report, set to be considered by CCC cabinet next week, shows the estimated cost of implementing the project - dubbed Invest to Save and Improve - could be between £1.55 and £ 2.1 million while estimated capital receipts may range between £9.4 and £ 25.1 million.
