Moresby 11, Ambleside 17.

BEFORE Ambleside had got the journey out of their system, Moresby scored an unconverted try.

Playing into the wind and rain, Ambleside battled their way back upfield and good forward play enabled Steve Bragg to crash over for an unconverted try to level the scores.

Bad-tempered clashes led to a Moresby player being shown a red card and an Ambleside lad a yellow.

But it was Moresby who scored two penalties because of ill-discipline on Ambleside's part.

Ambleside regained the initiative when Lee Black gathered a loose ball to run 25 metres to score a fine solo try for Ambleside to cut the half-time gap to a single point at 11-10.

The visitors struggled to harness the wind's advantage in the second half with play switching from end to end but neither team able to capitalise.

Then with the clocking ticking down, Ambleside No.

8 Even, picked up a loose ball and beat three defenders on a 40-metre run to score under the posts.

Steve Dixon converted to clinch the 17-11 victory in the atrocious conditions.
