SOUTH Lakes orienteer Vicky Brocklebank excelled in a European orienteering event in Belgium, helping the British team take a gold medal.
Vicky, 20, from Kirkby-in-Furness, a former pupil of Ulverston Victoria High School, has been a member of the Great Britain team for four years.
She was chosen to represent her country in the D20 race at the Junior European Cup held in Limbourg province in North East Belgium in mid-October.
Vicky, who is studying medicine at Newcastle University, finished almost four minutes clear in her age group.
Her father Ray said: "This is the best she has ever done in the team and we are really proud of her."
