THE Westmorland Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is rolling out the barrels ready for the 8th Westmorland Beer Festival.

The event is to be held in the Assembly Room, upstairs in Kendal Town Hall, from Tuesday, September 25, until Saturday September 29.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the Festival is open from 5.30pm-10.30pm but it will be open all day from noon to 10.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

This popular event will offer a wide range of real ales, cider and perry from the British Isles in addition to an excellent selection of Cumbrian brews.

As well as established favourites (including award-winners) there will be some surprises.

This year's Festival Beer takes on an international flavour by combining the heritage of traditional British brewing with the style and character offered by a German wheat beer.

Specially brewed by the Prince of Wales Brewery at Foxfield, near Broughton- in- Furness, this is bound to be an intriguing combination well worth sampling.

In addition to flavoursome tipples, there will be food available.

Those attending will also be able to take away a commemorative glass.

There will be a CAMRA product stall offering a range of items as well as the opportunity to join CAMRA and enjoy special membership offers at the festival and elsewhere.

All you have to do to enter the competition to win the first prize of a Good Beer Guide 2002 or 3 runner-up prizes of Festival T-shirts, is answer the question and send it on a postcard (remembering to include your name, address and telephone number) to: Westmorland Beer Festival competition, South Lakes Citizen, 22 Stricklandgate, Kendal, LA9 4NE, to arrive by first post next Tuesday.

Or you can email your answer to lisa.frascarelli@notes.newsquest.co.uk, to arrive by 9am next Tuesday.
