CARTMEL Lions Baseball Club which competes in the British Baseball Federations North-West League is limbering up for start of the 2001 season in April.

The Club is actively seeking new players from anywhere in South Lakeland so that it can field teams in every age category.

BBF-accredited coaches will gladly explain the rules and provide instruction and the Club will supply brand new uniforms and other equipment for anyone who would like to try the game without having to purchase their own

The teams, age groups, coaches and contact details are: Cubs B, under 10 years, Ian Harrison 015395 58937; Cubs A 10-13, Talib Yaseen 015395 58231 or Aart Klijn 015395 58482; Juniors 13-16, Ted Fearon 015395 36252; Seniors, over 16, Talib Yaseen 015395 58231.

Registration for the 2001 season will be held between 6:30pm and 7:30pm this evening (February 23) at Cartmel Priory School.

Subscriptions are £15 for the first child and £10 for each additional child in the same family.

Training for the Under 10s starts on Sunday March 4, at 10:30am on the school tennis courts.

Training for the Cubs A and Lions Junior teams will begin on Friday March 2 in Cartmel Priory School hall at 6:30pm.

Once clocks go forward, outdoor training sessions will be held at 6:30pm every Friday on the Cartmel Priory School field.
