FARMERS now earn less that the statutory minimum wage, according to the Country land and Business Association.
Figures show that, on average, farmers earn just £ 2.50 per hour compared with the minimum wage of £3.70.
Jolyon Dodgson, CLA regional director, said: "It is totally unacceptable that our farmers are earning a mere £2.50.
We believe the Government is aware of the problems facing agriculture, but we are bound to wonder whether it has the political will to act."
