THERE'S a guy who works in the Bolton-le-Sands chip shop who thinks he's Elvis...
Well, actually there were several Elvis lookalikes in and around Bolton-le-Sands chippy this week, as part of National Chip Week.
They don't do things by halves at at Bolton-le-Sands ...you could pick the Elvis of your choice - the cool, slim early years Elvis or an Elvis from a later period - some having a little trouble keeping the famous 'quiff' in place as a stiff breeze blew over the canal bridge.
However, there was one thing every Elvis was agreed upon - when it comes to their local chippy, Bolton-le-Sands beats Memphis every time.
John and Hilary Wild, of the Packet Bridge Village Fish and Chip Shop, are entering into the spirit of National Chip Week, with gusto and have launched their own competition where anyone who goes in during opening hours dressed as Elvis before March 3 will receive a free portion of fish and chips.
They will also have their photo taken and displayed by John and his staff.
The 'best dressed' Elvis will receive a gourmet meal for two at a restaurant in the North West, and a chauffer-driven limousine will also be provided.
Robert Jackson, Alan Whiteside, George Haines and Neville Stephenson, who all sported black 'quiff' wigs and sunglasses, agreed that there's nothing like a good portion of fish and chips to keep them going.
Elvis's music might be another matter.
"I think I prefer a good hymn tune really," confided one 75-year-old 'Elvis', before smoothing his quiff and going off for another photo-call.
