OPENING up the countryside to more people is the aim of a new Local Access Forum set up by Lancashire County Council.
The forum will provide advice to the county council and the Countryside Agency on how to make the countryside more accessible and enjoyable for open-air recreation.
The forum will meet twice a year, and have up to 20 members.
It is hoped the members will bring a range of experience, from farming and wildlife to walking, riding and cycling.
Potential applicants are invited to give written details of their skills, knowledge and experience of the countryside in Lancashire.
They must also confirm their commitment to the forum for at least three years.
The deadline for applications to be received is March 16, 2001.
Anybody interested in chairing the forum is asked to telephone 01772-264709.
