Nixon's feat came in a last-wicket stand of 50 with Ryan Wilson which boosted Netherfield's final tally to 171 all out after others struggled for runs on the wet wicket.
Netherfield went on to bowl out Preston for 111, Nixon again playing a key role with his 5-17.
The 60-run win ensured Netherfield finished runners-up to Second Divison champions Lancaster after their final rearranged match with Leyland A was washed out without a ball bowled on Sunday.
Open Paul Stewart hit 937 runs in league and cup this season, averaging 52.05 including two centuries and four fifties.
