JO CASEY and Paul Henderson's Wave gallery landed this year's Best Window category in the Kendal Windows on Art awards.

The couple who own the contemporary art and design outlet on Kirkland received The Westmorland Gazette Award from editor Mike Glover at the KWoA awards night at the Brewery Arts Centre, with highly commended certificates going to Farrers, on Stricklandgate, and Impulse Flowers, Highgate.

The Most Notable Art award went to Kendal artist Richard Light for his Past Times, Past Lives mixed media in the side window of Past Times, on Stricklandgate.

The award, sponsored by Wave gallery, was presented by South Lakeland district councillor Phil Lister.

Ruth Castle and Rosie Wates both received highly commended certificates in the art category.

The Student Award was given to Rebecca Hodgson, from Keswick School.

However, due to the petrol shortage, Rebecca was unable to attend the ceremony.
