A FRIGHTENED teenage girl screamed when a man put his hands on her shoulder as she made her way home alone from Kendal's Torchlight night celebrations.
Her yells of terror alerted her parents who rushed out into the street and confronted the man who made off down Anchorite Road towards the River Kent.
The incident happened at around 11.10pm just off Glebe Road.
Police are unsure what the man's motives were and are anxious to trace him and are appealing for help to track him down.
He is described as being a stocky, white male in his 20s between 5ft 8in and 6ft in height.
He had short, dark hair which was possibly longer on top and he was wearing a green smock-type fleece, possibly olive green in colour, and blue jeans.
