A TOUCH of swing will be in the air next weekend as Broughton-in-Furness stages its first three-day Festival of Jazz.
Among the fine footstompers from across the country will be Les Bull's Festival Jazz Band, one of Cumbria's best-known outfits who play at the newly-refurbished Victory Hall dance on the Saturday night (September 23).
One of the most established and successful Dixieland players The Smokey City Jazz Band; the Derick Jenkinson Jazz Orchestra; and the Rae Brothers New Orleans Band, are also among a host of swingers who will take part in the feast of music being staged in nine venues across the town over the three-day bash on September 22/23/24, including: Eccle Riggs Manor Hotel; Old Kings Head; The Manor Arms; Beswick's Restaurant and the Black Cock Inn.
Another highlight promises to be the Sunday morning parish church service with jazz band and a gospel singer as well as an open air concert in Broughton's Georgian Square with Liverpool's top jazz show band, The Blue Magnolia Jazz Orchestra.
Tickets (including special £10 Stroller for all weekend) from Broughton Village Bakery, Prince's Street, and on 01229-716284(daytime), 01229-716582 (evenings).
