HOWBARROW Organic Farm, at Cartmel, and Oakroyd Bakery, at High Bentham, will be among food producers taking part in the North West Speciality Food & Drink Show in Manchester next month.

Up to 40 companies will be exhibiting at Manchester Town Hall, in Albert Square, in conjunction with the city's annual food and drink festival.

The event on Monday, October 9, is being co-organised by North West Fine Foods Ltd, the regional association for the development of small and medium-sized special food and drink producers.

Such has been the increase in consumer interest in speciality products that many top hotels and restaurants in the North West have signed up to attend the food and drink show.

CHEF-patron Steven Doherty of The Punch Bowl Inn, at Crosthwaite, has joined forces with two Kendal wine merchants - Frank Stainton and Oddbins - for a series of wine and food lunches to brighten the coming months.

The two-course lunches, with wine, will run right through to December and cost £11.95 inclusive.

Early booking is advisable.
