COLOURFUL rag rugs and dazzling ceramics are just a few of the attractive and impressive items on show in a new exhibition starting tomorrow (Saturday).
Some of the region's leading makers are blazing a trail to the Schoolroom at Witherslack, for New Work: seven creators all inspired and influenced by the natural world.
Rhythmic curves from woodworker Matt Turley feature; woven willow and more from well-known basketmaker Denise Durham; and vibrant, stylish rag rugs from Anna Kelly and Su Gilmartin.
Also included is Brampton-based Peter Lloyd who harmonises traditional skills and unique figuring in his fine hardboard boxes.
In addition, Judy Evans will show her striking and colourful paper and prints - hand-made paper with images inspired by nature.
Judy came to South Lakeland in 1973.
Working as a member of Made in Cumbria and Artists Working to Commission has lifted her profile.
Over the 27-year span as a printer she has built up a regular customer base of retail shops and galleries, alongside exhibitions of her work.
Hans Ullrich - who owns the Turning Point in Kendal's Highgate - will also display his latest wares.
Hans is best known for his painted and ceramic murals and sculpture, producing large, enchanting works for community or private spaces; school residencies and domestic ceramics.
The exhibition runs in the Schoolroom (next to the church) until October 1, 10am-6pm daily.
Admission free.
