In November 2010 hydrant ran an informal, half-day social media workshop for a small number of our clients at Rheged. The workshop, led by Jackie Harris of Brightspark Marketing, was not simply about “how to create social media accounts;” rather, it was more about the concept behind social media: why it has become so important, and how companies can – and should – be using social media to promote their businesses.

We started off by looking at what’s happening with traditional marketing, like print, TV and radio advertising. We discussed the shift away from traditional methods to the digital platform, which includes social media, e-marketing and online PR. Jackie told us not only why social media must be part of any successful marketing strategy, but how to achieve this and how to measure the results.

The workshop ended with a roundtable discussion on social media, and the participants came away with their notebooks bulging with practical tips and techniques to get them well on their way to creating a successful social media strategy.

And judging by the feedback we received, I’d say the workshop was a rousing success: “Thanks – the workshop was really informative and practical.”

"Well done on a fantastic workshop, I honestly found it really, really useful, and felt that Jackie was an excellent speaker."

We’re planning another workshop in the soon so be sure to register your interest for that as soon as possible. And remember, hydrant is here to help at any stage of the process, whether you need some guidance to get your social media strategy off the ground, or just need someone to generate fresh content for your website, blog, Facebook page or Twitter account.
