ON a visit to Middleham on Good Friday, Flared Nostril had a tour of Mark Johnston's stables - what a spot of horse heaven for the racing enthusiast.

My eyes did not actually get to see Hurricane Higgins, who runs in today's Lingfield Derby Trial, but with Johnston showing signs of hitting form I'm hoping this dark horse will bounce into the derby betting.

Hurricane is a half-brother to the useful and one-time 2,000 Guineas hope Jukebox Jury, and he been cutting up the gallops with his relation on the Moor.

Stable jockey Joe Fanning gets the ride with Neil Callan on Fielden Stakes winner Dordogne.

Elsewhere on the card, Flambeau looked to be on the upgrade when winning first time out and must go close in the 2.10 Chartwell Stakes.

Roger Charlton's Bated Breath is also going places and is fancied for the 4.10 at Haydock.

Sir Michael Stoute has had a quiet time of late - expect that to change at York next week - but in hte meantime Entitled - a half-sister to Peeress- should be on the premises in the 2.50 Bovis Handicap at Ascot now that the rain the trainer has the rain he's been waiting for.
