THE man who was found dead at a waste disposal site in Accrington yesterday has been named as Jason Mark Marren from Burnley.

The 32-year-old was found at the landfill site on Whinney Hill Road yesterday morning.

The discovery was made by employees at the site who spotted the body following a delivery.

It is thought that the body may have travelled from another site.

Police said a Home Office post-mortem examination has been carried out but the results are inconclusive and further tests will be carried out.

There are no obvious signs of a violent attack.

Crime scene investigators have been examining scenes at both Whinney Hill and the waste site in Widow Hill, Burnley, following the discovery.

Detective Superintendent Neil Esseen said: "At this stage I am still treating the death of Mr Marren as unexplained but would appeal to anyone who was in contact with him or aware of his whereabouts on Friday September 9 or Saturday, September 10, to come forward and speak to the police.

“I am keeping an open mind as to what has happened but if anyone has any information that will assist the enquiry then I would urge them to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to call Lancashire police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
