FIRE-FIGHTERS across Cumbria rolled up their sleeves and ran out their hoses to raise more than £800 for charity.
Motorists were given gleaming wheels by fire-fighters in Kendal, Shap and Staveley in return for a donation to the national Fire Fighters Charity – an organisation offering help to serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.
Ian Cartwright, Cumbria’s deputy chief fire officer, said: “The charity is an excellent cause and relies in the main on the generosity of the public, so I’m delighted to see fire stations taking part in helping it to raise funds.”
