EMERGENCY crews were called to Kendal town centre earlier today.

An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle arrived at Market Place shortly after midday.

Paramedics appeared to be attending to an elderly man, who was put in the back of the ambulance.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: "We were called to the scene at 12.06pm to reports a man had been taken ill.

"The patient has been taken to hospital."
