PLANS for six new lodges at a caravan park in Kendal have been refused by the Lake District National Park Planning Authority.
Pound Farm Caravan Park in Crook submitted plans for the new lodges following increased demand in the last year.
Their proposal said: "The Caravan/lodges would be available for occupation 12months of the year but would be for holiday purposes only and not as principle or main residences.
"The demand for holiday accommodation has increased significantly in the last year and with this proposal the 2 sizes of lodge meets demand for larger and smaller units.
"The site is well screened by mature trees and therefore there would be no landscape impact."
The plans were refused by the LDNPA on the grounds that the proposals would result in a loss in touring caravans.
"No information has been provided to show that a good range of caravan and camping accommodation would be maintained in the local area in line with the development plan requirement," the LDNPA officer's report stated.
