THOUSANDS of streetlights are to be replaced with energy-saving LEDs across Lancashire.
The £9.2 million project is to start next month and will see 38,000 old-style lamps replaced by November 2020.
Some 87,000 traditional lights have already been upgraded to cutting-edge LEDs by Lancashire County Council. "By replacing these streetlights with LEDs, we'll save £1.8m every year once the project is complete," said Cllr Keith Iddon.
