Like some of your correspondents, I was somewhat sceptical about the need for traffic-calming measures on Castle Green Road near Castle Park School at Kendal.
That was until recently, when I was about to turn left out of Sedbergh Road to be confronted by an empty car transporter travelling downhill at speed overtaking a tractor that was trying to turn right into the road I was on!
Anyone on the zebra crossing would have had no chance. I have great regard for lorry drivers but this one needed prosecuting.
Good luck to the council when the speed limit is reduced to 30mph. I hope they actively enforce it with speed cameras.
