AFTER securing a runner up place at a recent Under 13 English Schools Table Tennis Association Championships, four boys from Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale played against some of the best young talent from across the north of England.
Selected to represent Cumbria alongside St Bernard’s School, Barrow, at the North Region Zone Finals in Billinghurst, Stockton on Tees, they met schools from five other counties and were defeated by national champions; St Mary's of Hull.
Before their defeat, Archie Catnach won both his matches against the number one and two from Oxclose School, Tyne and Wear, Tom Horrocks pushed his opponents to a five game set and Jamie Yafai took a game from his opponent.
