KENDAL Town's Ladies began their season on a winning note after defeating Preston North End Ladies 4-1 at Parkside Road.

Town put in a very impressive performance against a good Preston side, in a game which on paper looked a very challenging game.

In what was an open start, Preston created the first opportunity when Jennifer Coupe's shot rattled the cross bar.

However Kendal looked dangerous as Joanne Thompson's chipped effort on goal just went over the bar.

Preston then had another opportunity when Helen Coupe outpaced Brooke Kenny to the ball only for Coupes shot to be saved by Lisa Rowlinson.

Despite the open nature of the game, Kendal were the better side and began to push Preston on the back foot.

Kendal's dominating spell paid dividends when Heather Ramsay bursts into the penalty box to unleash an unstoppable shot past the Preston goalkeeper.

Ramsay doubled the lead when she burst her way through into the box to send another venomous strike past the visiting stopper before new signing Paula Doyle made it three just before half time as she finished from close range.

Preston pulled one back through Jennifer Coupe to make a nervy second-half spell for Kendal but the home side regained control when Paula Doyle added a fourth.
