CRICKET takes centre stage as the summer sports move into full swing and this weekend sees Bank Holiday double-headers for both the Kendal-based 3-D Sports Northern Premier League clubs.
Netherfield, already riding high in the table with two wins under their belt, are away to Chorley on Saturday and home to Fleetwood on Monday.
Kendal, who have so far won at home but lost away, entertain Morecambe at Shap Road on Saturday and are away at St Annes on Monday. All four matches start at 1pm.
The Westmorland Cricket League is into its second weekend with champions Windermere entertaining Sedgwick on Saturday (2pm start - no Division 1 fixtures on Monday).
Other matches in the top flight see Burneside host Bolton-le-Sands and Ibis v Heysham, Milnthorpe v Kirkby Lonsdale, Warton v Shireshead and Westgate v Arnside.
On Sunday the popular Dallam Dash 10k will have runners flocking to Milnthorpe for the 11 am start from Dallam School.
Ingleton Football Club have a good record in Yorkshire FA's Craven Cup and they hope to add to their reputation when they meet Barnoldswick Town in the final tonight (Friday). Kick-off at Settle FC is at 6.30pm.
Kendal's rugby season has ended, but several of the players have been selected for the county squad and could well feature in the opening round of the County Championship Shield when Cumbria take on Northumberland at Tynedale on Saturday. Kick-off is at 3pm.
