STOCKPORT County manager Jim Gannon watched his side held to a 4-4 draw by Kendal Town in a thrilling exhibition at the Planet Conservatories Stadium on Tuesday.

Although Town went behind to a Chris Coward goal after 11 minutes, Gareth Arnison headed an equaliser in the 20th minute before County struck twice in four minutes from Liam Dickenson's overhead kick and Gregg Tansey's thunerous 25-yard drive from a half-clearance for a 3-1 half time lead.

Peter Wright finished off a three-man move to make it 3-2 59 minutes into the second half and Jon Forbes levelled the score with an overhead kick from a corner in the 62nd minute.

Town, whose flowing exhibition of football had their opponents fully stretched for long spells, went 4-3 up when substitute Craig Hobson tucked away Scott Redhead's crossfield pass in the 74th minute.

County spared their blushes as Chris Coward smashed in a first-time volley nine minutes from the end, but Town might have snatched victory with efforts from boss Lee Ashcroft and Lee Mulvaney in injury time.
