CARNFORTH won the prestigious Hackney and Leigh Cup after defeating Milnthorpe by nine wickets in the final which was held at Sedgwick Cricket Club.

One wicket apiece from Darren Nelson, Tom Parkinson, Jack Thompson and Alex Benson saw Milnthorpe restricted to 106-5. Phil Bovis top scored with 52 for Milnthorpe, while Mike Wills contributed with 21.

However, Carnforth knocked the runs off in 16.4 overs after both Ryan Nelson and Chris Parry retired on 50.

The cup victory completed a memorable weekend for Carnforth who routed Silverdale by 129 runs in the league. Ryan Nelson scoring 50 in Carnforth’s first innings total of 200-8. Darren Nelson returned stunning second innings figures of 9-24 after Silverdale were all out in their reply for 71.

Heysham are second and five points behind league leaders Arnside after easing past Burneside by 93 runs. Heysham posted 185-9 off 45 overs. Andrew Powers the top run scorer with 79, while Burneside’s Darren Nightingale picked up figures of 4-72.

Graham Cassidy’s second innings return of 7-23 ripped through the hosts who were all out in their reply for 92.

Ollie Wileman returned figures of 6-37 in Ambleside’s 47 run victory at Holme, Tom Jacques picked up figures of 5-24 after Shireshead eased past Milnthorpe by 6 wickets, Westgate edged out Warton by 15 runs.

Ryan Needham picked up figures of 5-27 as Westgate were all out for 100, however Andy Hills second innings return of 5-9 saw Warton all out for 85.

Sedgwick continued to dominate Division Two after an emphatic victory against Carnforth A. Chris Evans posted an undefeated 72 in Sedgwick’s first innings total of 235-6. Carnforth in reply were all out for 92.

Shireshead seconds eased past Ingleton by 8 wickets.

Michael Cole scored 107 in Bolton Le Sands’ 4 wicket win against Westgate Seconds. Andrew Churlton’s 52 guided Trimpell to a 7 wicket win at Heysham Seconds, while Kirkby Lonsdale picked up a winning draw against Penrith Seconds.
