SIX promising young members of Kendal Amateur Boxing Club will travel to Denmark on Saturday to compete at the prestigious HSK Box Cup Tournament alongside 400 boxers from ten European countries.

Reece Johnson, Finley Rayner, Lewis Baldwin, Lauchlan Savage, Sol Huntley and Conner Thorpe – whose ages range from 13 to 17 – will be accompanied by head coach Alan Willoughby, assistant coach Paul Blair and driver Craig Thorpe for the three-day tournament at Hillerod, near Copenhagen, starting next Friday, October 12.

Prior to the event the team will attend a five-day training camp to hone their skills and receive final instructions.

Head coach Willoughby said: "This trip has been two years in the planning. We have had to raise a lot of money to be able to take the lads to Copenhagen and I would like to express my thanks to sponsors AST Signs, B J Metals, and Fish Express, Kendal, and all who have helped support us.

"The six young boxers I am taking over to fight are all very talented and there is high expectation for them all to do well. They will gain a wealth of experience and many great memories that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives. Watch out for them."

Kendal Amateur Boxing Club, was founded in 1974 by Alan Willoughby and currently has 35 members ranging from nine to 30 years old.
