AS THE season approaches its approach the half way stage, Burton A have consolidated their position at the top of Division One of the Kendal & District Table Tennis League following an comprehensive 24-13 defeat of Ibis.

They were assisted, however, by an unfortunate injury to Steve Dixon – eight times league singles champion in the last 12 years – midway through his match against Peter Baxendale.

The injury occurred at the beginning of the fourth game, with Dixon leading 2 games to 1, and Baxendale went on to complete a rather unsatisfactory 10-12, 13-11, 4-11, 11-1, 11-0 victory.

Natland A secured a comfortable 29-8 victory against Natland B, with Tamas Bacsi man of the match but Andrew Hudson preventing a whitewash with a 6-11, 11-5, 2-11, 11-9, 11-7 win against Louise Thompson.

Natland A are still unbeaten and look like being in the mix at the end of the season.

In Division Two, potential promotion contenders Natland C and Natland D engaged in a closely fought encounter, with Natland C emerging narrow 19-16 winners.

Andrea Jorkisch was the star of the show for Natland C, winning all three of her singles matches, including a hard fought 4-11, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 11-5 win against talented youngster Archie Catnach.

Meanwhile, Crook B leapfrogged to the top of Division Two with a crushing 30-6 victory over Natland E – and look likely to stay there. E.
