TORRENTIAL rain led to the abandonment of Kendal Town's Evo-Stik West Division game this afternoon.
The Mintcakes were trailing Kidsgrove Athletic 3-1 at half-time when the referee decided enough was enough with conditions unplayable.
The game only went ahead after the ST&B Accountants Stadium pitch passed a morning inspection followng heavy overnight rain.
But after a first half played in a downpour, the referee called a halt to proceedings at the break.
Anthony Malbon (two) and Chris Budrys were on target for Kidsgrove with Billy Akrigg replying for Town.
There was better news across town as Kendal RUFC beat Lymm 11-10.
That result was the perfect tonic for the Black and Ambers after their 89-0 defeat at Hull last weekend.
Kirkby Lonsdale entertained Hull this afternoon - and they too were beaten by the east coast outfit, going down 28-3.
