A NEW cycling event designed to test entrants with a gruelling uphill ride is taking place in Ambleside next month.
The Struggle Hill Climb, which will take place on Saturday, September 21 is a cycling time trial event where riders will begin just outside the town and proceed up to where the road meets Kirkstone Pass.
It's expected to be a brutal test of stamina but that hasn't put potential competitors off as the event is already fully subscribed for the event with 80 riders.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Great North Air Ambulance charity, a cause close to the heart of event organiser Jack Talbot who was a patient of theirs in 2017 when he was hit by a car in Ulverston and had to be placed into an induced coma with a severe brain injury.
