AFTER the disappointment of a narrow FA Cup defeat by Altrincham last weekend, and dropping UniBond League points to Gateshead midweek, Kendal Town must pick themselves up for two cup games in four days.

Saturday they are away to Sheffield FC in the FA Trophy. The match marks the start of a curious week for Sheffield, the oldest football club in Britain, for their clash with Kendal is followed on Thursday by the visit of Inter Milan to celebrate the Yorkshire Club's 150th anniversary. Meanwhile Kendal will be in home action next Tuesday (November 8) night (7.45pm) when they take on Chorley in the Lancashire FA Co-op Trophy.

KENDAL'S all-conquering rugby team, who saw off Huddersfield in a top of the league thriller last week, will be back before their home fans this weekend. Hull are the visitors to Mint Bridge (kick-off 2pm) and Kendal will be keen to extend their unbeaten start to the North Division One season to eight matches.

KENDAL Women's hockey side continues its North Division Two (West) campaign against Morecambe, at Cinder Ovens, Kendal. The game starts at 2pm.

ON SUNDAY, Carlisle Races stages its biggest race of the National Hunt season. The £40,000 Coors Cumberland Handicap Chase. Gates open for the Celebration of Rural Living' meeting at 11am and the first race is at 12.50pm.
