I HAVE special memories of my last visit to Chesterfield - and I hope we have plenty to smile about when we play there tomorrow.

We played them in the FA Cup five years ago and beat them 2-1 and I managed to score the winning goal in stoppage time.

It was a great experience and raised my profile and also that of the club and they are the sort of memories you treasure.

Now we go there in the League on a level footing and like every game in League Two it will be a hard game.

They are a big side and are going well towards the top but we are looking forward to the game on a nice wide, big and decent pitch.

That will give us the chance to get the ball down and play, and hopefully get back to the way we can perform.

We have been a little bit disappointed with the last two performances and last week against Rochdale we seemed a little flat.

But to take a point with 10 men is not a bad result.

We had a couple of penalty appeals turned down and that is frustrating given the penalty we conceded at Rotherham the week before.

And it didn't help when Michael Twiss was sent off - and people who know Michael and know football would think that was a very harsh red card.

Personally I think it should be rescinded.

It summed up the performance of the referee. I think he had an off day but I have to be careful what I say about the referee because I don't want an FA charge.

But I have found this season that you can't talk to some referees - and if you do you get booked. And if you get booked you get fined 30 per cent of your wage - and you certainly don't want that just before Christmas.

All that said, we managed to get a point and avoided back-to-back defeats, which is what Sammy and Lills drum into us on the training pitch.

We want to be a tough team to beat and 13 games into the season we are doing that just nicely.

We are missing Twissy and Dave Artell through suspension this weekend but we have good players to come in.

The squad is strong and we have good players waiting in the wings and that makes a difference as there is no weak link.
