KENDAL Town suffered mixed fortunes in league and cup as Chris Humphrey’s Team struggle to find some form.

And at the weekend Kendal progressed into the next round of The Senior Challenge Cup after coming back from 1-0 down to defeat Milnthorpe Corinthians 2-1 at The Strands, while on Tuesday Kendal crashed to their fourth consecutive league defeat after they lost 1-0 at Newcastle Town.

The Mintcakes looked back at yet another close game, as their league struggles continued against an opponent who were a few places above them in the table.

However, at the weekend Kendal made the very short trip to play a strong Milnthorpe Corinthians Team in The Senior Challenge Cup.

Milnthorpe were the back-to-back defending cup holders of the competition, while they had former Kendal Town players Steven Yawson and Ben Thomas in their team.

The home ground saw a huge number of spectators turn up for the game, in a competition which Kendal haven’t entered for many years.

And in the first half Milnthorpe opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Matthew Knipe scored, however Kendal equalised 58 minutes into the second half when Chris Wraighte capitalised on a defensive mistake at the back before firing the ball past the keeper.

Kendal buoyed on by the equaliser pushed for the winner and with just 11 minutes left Yvez Zama edged The Mintcakes in front before they saw out the game to secure victory.

Kendal now play Burneside in the next round with the tie to be played at Parkside Road on Tuesday 26th October with the game kicking off at 7.45pm.

On Tuesday Night Kendal were back to league action, as they made the long trip to play Newcastle Town and despite their best efforts the team fell to yet another close defeat.

Challis Johnson opened the scoring for the hosts after just 8 minutes, Kendal tried to get back into the game, while Chris Humhprey made a triple substitution at half time which saw him bring himself on alongside Matthew Marsh and Jack Milburn.

However, despite the changes Newcastle saw out the game, with both teams creating opportunities on a frustrating night.

Kendal are home to Trafford on Saturday in a huge game at Parkside Road.
