KENDAL Town have announced that Mike O’Neill will be their new acting chairman as of November 10.

Following the recent departure of the club Manager Chris Humphrey and Chairman Jay Rossi, the team have brought in interim manager Jordan Scott to run the squad.

On November 10, the Mintcakes announced that Mr O’Neill would be stepping in as their new acting chairman.

The club said: “Kendal Town Football are pleased to announce that Michael O’Neill is now the acting chairman of Kendal Town Football Club following on from a meeting this morning between Alvin, Jay and Mike himself.

“His appointment will be fully ratified in a meeting at the club on Thursday.”

The appointment of Mike O'Neill as acting chairman has been welcomed by fans of the club and his announcement was met with numerous messages of support.

Mike O’Neill said: “I have been part of the club for a while now and I was approached a while back to see if I wanted to be part of the club moving forward.

“I said I’d love to get involved.

“I was invited to a meeting today with Alvin Finch and Jay Rossi, and together we saw the club as a blank canvas which we are ambitious to engage and grow.

“Tomorrow we will be having another meeting and hopefully I will be voted in and it will be made official.

“In the short term I seek to improve our fortunes on the pitch. Mid-term I’d like to work with the community and get the crowds back in the seats. Long term we will work to climb up the league.

“Kendal Town is an amazing place and I’m excited to get started.

"I was part of the club back in 2007 until 2009 but had to step away for a while due to personal reasons.

“But I kept up in contact with everyone at the club and I was always keen to get back involved.
