The Puma Lakeland Trails get under way this weekend with 1,500 runners from all over the world competing in Saturday's 15km Hawkshead race.
The Hawkshead Trail is one of four races that together with Garburn, Derwentwater and Coniston form the Puma Lakeland Trails.
Last year's Hawkshead event knocked the famous London Marathon off the top spot as the Best Running Event in the UK', in a national poll conducted by running magazine, Runnersworld.
The 15km International Puma Hawkshead Trail Race and Challenge sold out months ago, with competitors travelling from all over the world to take part, including Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, Uganda, USA, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Ireland.
Entries are closed for the main 14km trail, but entries will be accepted on the day for the shorter 4km Bridgedale Sport Trail (start at 10.30am) and the Children's Fun Trail (start at 15.30).
See www.lakelandtrails.org for entry details to Derwentwater and Coniston and a full itinerary for each race day.
