AT the star-studded Battle of Britain tennis event in Aberdeen featuring Andy and Jamie Murray, three local lads played in the junior warm-up competition. 

The Battle of Britain event features Scottish tennis stars playing against English players at the P&J arena. Coverage of the event was broadcast on the BBC. It took place from 21 to 22 December and featured the Murray brothers, Dan Evans, and Jack Draper.

Daniel Drinkall, William Barnes and Kjell Jendis were selected to represent England in the junior warm-up event and won their competition. 

All three were coached by Cumbria County coach Jon Griffin and trained at the Kirkby Lonsdale Tennis Centre.

Jon Griffin said: "All three had an absolutely fabulous time mixing with the stars while being hosted and looked after by top Scottish coach Adam Brown. 

"Without doubt tennis was the winner from this showcase event."
