Kendal Town made light work of progressing into the next round of the Lancashire Co-op Cup dispatching Marine 3-2 at Parkside.

A second goal for the visitors that came deep into added time belied what had been a largely straightforward game for a Town.

Kendal looked far shaper than they had in Saturday’s 2-2 home draw against Matlock and took the lead on 21 minutes as Gary Baker arrived on the right corner of the area to connect with Osman’s pass.

Marine resorted equilibrium shortly after Kendal had taken the lead with Peter Cumiskey firing neatly into the bottom right.

Kendal restored their advantage just before half time when a Lee Mulvaney effort was parried by the Marine keeper, and Craig Hobson was on hand with the follow up to volley home.

A quiet second half saw Alex Taylor make his return from injury and striker marked his come back with a goal on 87 minutes as his shot squirmed under Sean Lake to wrap up the tie.

Marine skipper Kevin Lynch restored some pride for the Merseyside team when he bundled home the ball from close range on 93 minutes, but it was to late for the visitors and Kendal go through to face Southport in the next round.
