The Appleby-based sidecar team of Andy Laidlow and passenger Patrick Farrance are investing in a Formula 1 machine after being invited among an elite group of 20 teams to compete in the new-look British Sidecar Championship, which for the first time in more than a decade will be held in conjunction with the British Superbike Championship.
Laidlow steered his way to seven British Championship podium places in the past season, including two victories and four lap records, and also gained a second overall at the Isle of Man TT races before finishing third in the final British rankings. The team has a fund-raising night at the Golden Ball, Appleby, on Wednesday, March 4 (8pm).
