AFTER a break from rallying so far this year, the familiar pairing of Ambleside’s Graham Gaskell and Leeds based co-driver Dave Gibson will be reunited for the 22nd Grizedale Stages Rally in the Cumbrian forests around Hawkshead on Saturday.
The crew hav a start number of 102, but with changes to the rally’s format meaning smaller capacity and historic cars run at the head of the field, it will mean the little Nova is running 11th on the road.
Given the recent weather conditions this should give the team a major advantage on the slippery gravel surfaces.
Gaskell said car preparation has gone well with the exception of some handling issues, which now seem to have been ironed out burning the midnight oil at the garage of their local sponsor, Gerald Davies Auto Repairs in Kendal.
Graham and Dave will be aiming not to repeat their antics of 2007, the last time they competed on this rally together, when the car ended up parked on its side in a ditch.
