A WELCOME welcome break in the wintry weather led to some impressive times at Howgill Harriers’ annual Ravenstonedale Red 10k.
Winner James Bulman of North York Moors AC stormed to the finish line in 33min.3sec. with Borrowdale’s Morgan Donnelly hot on his heels insecond (33-05) and Chris Steele of Borrowdale third in 33-17 from a 174-strong field.
Leading in a strong women’s entry was Pippa Maddams,13th overall, in a fast 37-42 over the the undulating course. Helm Hill’s Melanie Hyder (38-36) and Swaledale’s Erica Johnson (40-41) weresecond and third respectively.
Howgill Harriers won the men’s and women’s team prize.
Jack Walton and Tessa Higgs (both from Howgill) were first male and female in the 2.5 mile fun run held before the main event.
Afterwards The Black Swan Hotel had provided soup for all the runners as they waited for their prizes, presented by sponsor Garth Steadman.
