Hello,

I was kindly sent a match report by Kendal Celtic this evening, and I thought i would post it on here so you can all have a look at what went on: I would like to thank Kendal Celtic for doing this for me, very much appreciated.

Kendal Celtic 4 vs Kendal county reserves 1

1. D Wicks,2. D Ashburn,3. D Martindale,4. S Baldwin,5. D Butcher,6. R Downey, 7. J Baker, 8. D Collins, 9. S O’Callaghan, 10.M Brewer, 11. P Ganley

Subs: S Milburn, G Cotton, B Simpson.

The Millennium field is in pretty good nick considering the amount of bad weather during the week, even so very little quality football is on show in a typical derby style game.

Celtic have the first effort at goal when Brewer heads narrowly over the bar from a Baker corner.

Fifteen minutes gone Celtic make the break through. From a corner on the left, the ball falls to Ganley at the back post, who fire through a crowd of players to make it 1-0 to Celtic.

Within thirty seconds of the re-start County are level. A long ball is played through and Ferguson pounces on a error in the Celtic defence and slots the ball past Wicks to make it 1-1.

County are forced to re-organise when Player-Manager Todd is forced off with a knee injury.

Celtic regain the lead through O’Callaghan, who is making his home debut. The ball is worked to O’Callaghan and from 25 yards out he fires an unstoppable shot past the diving Bush in the County goal.

The game is now end to end. Baldwin makes a last ditch blocking tackle to prevent a County goal and both Bush and Wicks are forced to make good saves before half-time.

Into the second half and a sweeping cross field move by Celtic. Baker fires a ball from left to right to Ashburn, who crosses and Ganley heads wide.

Brewer makes a strong run through the centre of the County defence and is brought down just outside the penalty area by Blamire. From the resulting free-kick O’Callaghan fires the ball only inches over the crossbar.

Although Celtic are looking comfortable County remain a threat on the brake, but the game is put beyond doubt with five minutes remaining. O’Callaghan fires in a shot which Bush can only parry. The ball falls to Baker who slots home to make it 3-1 to Celtic.

With the result safe Celtic continue to attack looking to extend their lead. Substitute Millburn sends over a dangerous corner which finds Collins unmarked, bur Collins send his header over the crossbar.

Into injury time and Wicks sends a kick deep into the County half which O’Callaghan runs onto and sends the ball past Bush to make it 4-1 to Celtic with the final kick of the game.

A good result from the local derby for Celtic and a good follow up to last weeks victory against Wetheriggs.

Round up of all the other action:

I was at the Kendal County vs Coniston match, Kendal County won 3-1, however i was unable to get the goalscorers names, but I will chase that up and post them on here as soon as I get them.

County dominated the match, they got the 1st goal in the 1st half and missed a few chances, the 2nd half County took the game to the visitors however Coniston did miss 3 guilt edge chances. The he 2nd and the third goal came, before Coniston claimed a consolation.

You can't fault coniston for effort or commitment, but County are looking good at the moment.

I did do some photographs of that match which i will post a link to on this blog very soon.
