Hello everybody, with the bad weather we have had recently there was nobody more surprised than me that there was play in The Westmorland League last weekend. I hope those that read my blogs liked the photos I had taken from The Kendal County vs Coniston match last Saturday. Photos will be a regular feature in my blogs so keep a look out for those.

This weekend of course The Westmorland League is in action yet again, every fixture no doubt will be subject to the weather, but providing it goes ahead here’s what’s in store for Saturday:

Division 1

Kendal County have a chance to extend their lead at the top when they play Lunesdale Utd away. Lunesdale are 4 points behind county but have lost 4 games to Kendal’s 1. I will be interested to see what the actual outcome is of that match.

The other fixture that stands out for me is Wetheriggs Utd vs Appleby. Two in form teams competing with Kendal County for the League. Wetheriggs have been in great form whilst Appleby have also been in good form. This match is probably the highlight match for the weekend.

At The bottom end of the division Ibis are home to Burneside, Ibis are bottom of the league still searching for their 1st league win of the season, whilst Burneside sit just above Ibis by 1 point. An Ibis win would take them off the bottom and put Burneside there whilst a Burneside win would keep Ibis at the bottom and open a gap between the 2 sides.

Other fixtures:

Coniston vs Carvetti Utd
Sedbergh Wanderers vs Keswick

Division 2:

Kirkoswald are the current leaders of the division, 4 points clear of Staveley and in great form. This weekend sees the leaders away at Keswick’s reserve team. On paper Kirkoswald should win, but Keswick will be keen to upset the form guide somewhat.

Other fixtures:

Kendal Celtic vs Ibis res
Penrith Rangers vs Kendal County res
Windermere SC res vs Wetheriggs Utd res

Division 3:

Kendal Utd are back in action this weekend with a home match against Penrith Rangers reserve team. Kendal have games in hand over league leaders Ambleside and will be keen to close the 8 point gap on the leaders.

Leaders Ambleside have an away match at Carvetti Utd, and will be keen to extend there lead over the rest.

This division is very tight at the moment with Kendal Utd and Appleby locked on 24 points and The Wetherigg A team 3 points behind 2nd place.

I will be interested to see how this league pans out over the rest of the season.

Other Fixtures:

Burneside res vs Appleby res
Ullswater Utd vs Endmoor KGR
Wetheriggs Utd a vs Shap res

Division 4:

Anyone of 5 teams can win this division at the moment, Leaders Kirkby Thore are 4 points clear of Langwathaby Utd. The fixtures this weekend may be pivotal at the top and at the bottom.

Leaders Kirkby Thore are home to Braithwaite whilst Langwathaby are home to Esthwaite Vale.

This division is sure to go all the way to the end.

Other fixtures:

FC Milnthorpe vs Endmoor KGR res
Kirkby Thore vs Braithwaite
Langwathaby Utd vs Esthwaite Vale
Staveley Utd res vs Coniston res
Windermere SC A vs Dent res

Highlight match of the weekend:

I may not be able to go to a particular match this weekend however if I do get the chance to go to one it will be Ibis vs Burneside from Division 1. If I do go I will do photos and a brief match report.

Check back from Saturday night for all the results, league tables etc
