There were a fair few games on In the Westmorland League on Saturday, there were also a lot of cup matches as well.
I will get to one and cover it soon, that’s a promise, but in the meantime here is a review of the weekend’s action:
Division 1
Well Kendal County look unstoppable at the moment another handy 3-1 win down at Greystoke on Saturday. The win keeps them top of the league and 3 points clear of Appleby, however the division isn’t a foregone conclusion with Ambleside UTD having 2 games in hand of County.
Both Wetheriggs and Ambleside were in cup action both winning their respective games quite comfortably.
And poor Ibis another defeat, this time a 6-1 home defeat by Keswick, Losing has become a habit for them, however the players gain experience etc at that level so its not all doom and gloom.
Carvetti United also claimed a 3-1 win over Coniston at the weekend.
Division 2:
The divisions looking to be between 4 sides and 2 of those 4 faced each other at the weekend. The Staveley Utd vs Penrith Rangers match was a big game for the division with both teams playing out a 3-3 thriller. The draw probably helps Staveley more than Penrith at the moment. Leaders Kirkoswald weren’t in action at the weekend.
Shap look quite handy at the moment winning 4-1 at home to Kendal Celtic
Other results:
Kendal County reserves won 3-2 over Wetheriggs reserves whilst Windermere SCA routed Sedbergh Wanderers reserves 7-2.
The results leave Kirkoswald top 6 clear of Staveley and with Shap and Penrith trying to make up ground.
At the bottom anyone of 8 could still be in trouble, so its all set up quite nicely at the moment.
Division 3:
There was only 1 league game on as the rest were in cup action with Lunesdales reserves winning 2-1 at Burneside reserves.
Highlights from the cup/trophy matches probably has to be Endmoor KGRs 8-0 home win over Ullswater Utd.
Division 4:
Any one of 6 teams can win this division, unfortunately leaders Kirkby Thore’s game at Coniston hasn’t come through so I don’t have a clue what happened there.
However the other chasing sides had a mixed day with Braithwaite getting what could be an important 1-0 win over Langwathaby who are in the chasing pack at the top.
Endmoor hammered Dent 7-3 away, whilst Staveley Utd’s reserve team won 5-0 at Windermere SCA.
Other results include Milnthorpes 3-0 home win over Burnesides A team, and Kendal Celtic reserves got a 2-2 home draw with Greystokes reserves.
Looking ahead:
I will do a preview for the weekend’s fixtures this Friday, and I will be going to Kendal Celtic’s match with Keswick’s reserves (weather permitting no doubt).
My aim is to make this blog a bit better than it is at the moment, I promise to make it a bit more exciting as I have a variety of different ideas.
Hope you enjoy your week
Richard
