Hello, what a weekend it has been in The Westmorland League and The cup competitions.

There have been scores ranging from 8-0 to 8-2 to 11-0 it has been a crazy weekend of action.Have you seen the photos I took of Kendal Celtic vs Kendal County’s reserves at the weekend yet? I posted them on this blog, so if you haven’t seen them yet feel free to check them out.

So lets start off by looking at all the action in league and cup:

Division 1:

Not much action really, the games that did go ahead ended in a draw and the rest were postponed as some teams were in cup action. However Ambelside Utd were the only winners in the division with a 4-1 win away at Greystoke. I also wanted to note that Ibis got a 1-1 at Keswick which is a good result for them considering they have been struggling all season.

The division leaves Kendal County on top and with the advantage, however the likes of Appleby,Wetheriggs,Ambleside and even Keswick are still chasing. Its the teams with the games in hand which are the ones to keep a close eye on in this division. At the bottom end Ibis,Burneside,Greystoke,Sedbergh and Coniston are fighting it out.

Division 2:

Kirkoswald vs Shap was the game of the day in this division. Shap won the game 1-0 against league leaders Kirkoswald, that win by Shap makes this divison interesting all of a sudden.

There were also 2 hammerings dished out by Wetheriggs Utd reserves who won 8-0 at Ibis reserves and Staveley Utd who won 11-0 away at Sedbergh Wanderers reserve team.

Meanwhile in The Mason and Freeman Cup 1st round Kendal County’s reserves won 2-0 against Kendal Celtic. With The Kendal Celtic pitch unplayable this game had taken place on Kendal County’s ground. I have to say that the pitch was in fantastic shape. I have photos on this blog from that game if you want to take a look.

Anyhow despite Kirkoswald’s defeat they are still top and 3 points clear of Staveley Utd, however Shap are the ones to watch at the moment as they have 5 games in hand over the leaders and are currently lying 3rd in the league.

At the bottom end Ibis reserves prop up the rest with Sedbergh Wanderers reserves and Keswicks reserve’s close by.

Division 3:

There was only one match on in this divison with Ullswater Utd winning at home to Penrith Rangers reserve team 3-2.

Ambelside Utds reserves match was postponed i think because of cup commitments.

The league hasn’t really changed that much Ambelside Utd’s reserves are still top and looking comfortable at the moment 5 points clear of Appleby in 2nd and 7 clear of Kendal Utd in 3rd. Ambleside Utds reserves also have 2 games in hand.

At the bottom end Lunesdale Utds reserves prop up the rest at the bottom, closely followed by Penrith Rangers reserves and Burneside’s reserves.

Division 4:

Goals galore in this division with the top 4 winning by heavy score lines, league leaders Kirby Thore won 8-0 at Dents reserves.

(Copied from Langwathaby Utds official site)

Langwathaby Utd stay 2nd closing in on the leaders after a comfortable 4-0 win at Staveley Utds reserves, 2 goals from Tim Jackson, with Simon Watson and a 60th minute own goal sealing victory.

Langwathabys team line up:

Mark Slee,Steven Hodgson,Mark Nixon,Ben Beaumont,Andrew Hodgson,Paul Parker,George Amstrong,Carl Horner,Tim Jackson,Simon Watson, Rob Whitton.
Subs:
John Bailey,Dale Bowman,Edward Page

Other hammerings include

8-2 home wins by Braithwaite over Esthwaite Vale, and Burnesides A team over Conistons reserve team.

With Endmoor K.G.R reserves completed the thrashings with an 8-2 win at Windermere SCA.

In The Austin Wren Cup 2nd round FC Milnthorpe won 4-1 at home to Kendal Celtics reserve team.

These results leave Kirby Thore top 4 points clear of Langwathaby Utd and Endmoor and 8 clear of 4th placed Braithwaite.

The team to watch at the top is Braithwaite as they have 4 games in hand on the leaders.

At the bottom end Windermere S.C.A prop up the rest closely followed by Dent’s reserves and Coniston reserves.

Look out for my next blog on Friday and also keep an eye out for more of my photographs. Next match I will be taking photos from is Kendal County’s home High Sheriffs cup 2nd round match with Lunesdale Utd on Saturday.

Hope you enjoy your week
