Hello, there was more action in some divisions than there were in the other divisions, however it was a weekend with a mixture of surprising results and games with lots of goals.

Division 1:

There were only 2 matches played in this division at the weekend, as a lot of teams were either in cup action or having the weekend off. However Appleby surprisingly drew 1-1 at Windermere, and Greystoke stuck 8 past Sedbergh Wanderers in an 8-2 home win.

In The High Sheriffs 3rd round, Kendal County eased to a comfortable 3-1 home win over Lunesdale Utd, You can see pictures from that game on my blog pages, (just scroll down)

Anyhow the league table still has Kendal County on top with 30 points, closely followed by Appleby with 28 points. However keep an eye on Ambleside Utd, Wetheriggs United and Keswick as they have games in hand on the top 2.

At the bottom end Ibis sit bottom on 4 points and are still looking for there 1st win over the season. Just above Ibis are Burneside on 5 points and Sedbergh Wanderers on 7 points.

Division 2:

There were only 3 matches on as the rest were either in cup action or had a weekend off.

However Penrith Rangers romped to a 10-0 win at Ibis reserves and Keswicks reserves stormed to a 3-0 win at Sedbergh Wanderers reserve side

The final game saw Shap and Wetheriggs Utds reserves draw a blank in a 0-0.

These results leave Kirkoswald top on 39 points, closely followed in 2nd by Staveley Unite don 36 points.

Teams like Shap, Penrith and Dent are still also in the hunt as they games in hand on the top teams.

At the bottom end Its probably between Ibis reserves and Sedbergh Wanderers reserves. But the likes of Keswicks reserves should look over there shoulder still.

Division 3

There were goals galore in this division, with Applebys reserves winning 6-1 at home to Lunesdale Utds reserves, whilst Endmoor won 4-1 at Kendal United in the game of the division and Penrith Rangers reserve side romped to a 5-1 home win over Burnesides reserve side.

These games leave Ambleside Utds reserves in top spot with 32 points and 3 games in hand on the other challengers. The closest challenger at the moment are Applebys reserve team 2 points behind on 30 points, but have not got games in hand like Ambleside have.

At the bottom end:Lunesdale Utds reserves prop up the rest on 8 points closely followed by Penrith Rangers on 12.

Division 4:

All games were played, and league leaders Kirkby Thore suffered a surprising 3-1 defeat at FC Milnthorpe. That result meant the likes of Endmoor KGR and Langwathaby closed the gap on the leaders after winning comprehensively.

Endmoor KGRs reserves won 3-0 at home to Esthwaite Vale whilst Langwathaby United romped to a 6-1 home win over Dents reserves. Langwathabys goals were scored by Tim Jackson, Simon Watson with 2, Carl Horner with 2 and Dale Bowman completing the rout.

Meanwhile Staveley utds reserves lost 3-1 at home to Braithwaite whilst Winderemer SC A lost 3-1 at home to Conistons reserves.

The league table has Kirkby Thore on top with Lagwathaby and Endmoor on 34 points, joint 2nd. Braithwaite have an outside chance for top spot, with games in hand etc.

At the bottom end Windermere SCA prop up the rest on 5 points whilst,Dent are 2nd bottom on 8 points, but have games in hand to try and address that situation. Conistons reserves should also look over there shoulder on the bottom 2 as they still have an outside chance of going down.

Look out for more news etc on The Westmorland League on Friday.

Hope you have a good week

Richard
