Well first of all I want to apologise for not doing a blog last Friday, by the time I finished my Kendal Town stuff I didn’t have enough time to send anything out. Anyhow that aside here is an update of what happened in the Westmorland League at the weekend.

Division 1:

The top sides in the division won their respective matches, Kendal County just keep on winning and dominating the division. I saw most of their match vs Lunesdale on Saturday which County handsomely won 5-1. I went after 3-0 so I failed to get all the goal scorers, but Daniel Ferguson scored 2 in the 1st half from what I am aware. Ironically County played Lunesdale in the cup the weekend before, and didn’t play well on that occasion, however this time out County were much better.

In the meantime Ambleside UTD stormed to a 12-0 win over the hapless Sedbergh Wanderers and Wetheriggs won 1-0 at bottom of the league Ibis.

And 5th placed Keswick won 3-1 at 2nd from bottom Burneside.

Windermere’s home match with Greystoke was postponed.

These results leave Kendal County top of the division 5 clear of Appleby and 6 clear of Ambleside Utd. However its still wide open as the likes of Ambleside, Wetheriggs and in particular Keswick have games in hand. So there’s a lot to play for still.

At the bottom, Ibis, Burneside and Sedbergh a still battling it out with Ibis in bottom position at the moment.

Division 2:

All matches were postponed due to the weather and various cup commitments.

Division 3:

The big result of the day was probably Appleby’s reserves beating Kendal Utd 4-0. However the shock of the day saw League leaders Ambleside Utd’s reserves lose 3-0 at Penrith Rangers. Meanwhile Endmoor built on their impressive win at Kendal UTD with a 3-1 win over Burneside’s reserves.

These results send Appleby’s reserves top as Ambleside drop to 2nd, At the bottom Lunesdale Utd’s reserves prop up the rest with Burneside’s reserves just above them.

Meanwhile Shap’s reserves match at Lunesdale’s reserves was postponed.

Division 4:

The big game of the division saw Braithwaite run out 5-2 winners over Endmoor KGR reserves, whilst leaders Kirkby Thore won 3-2 at Greystoke’s reserves.

Langwathaby UTD also keep winning with a 6-0 home win over Coniston’s reserve team. The goals were scored by Dale Bowman with a hat trick ,Rob Whitton, Tim Jackson and Carl Horner.

In the other game Staveley Utd’s reserves ran out 5-3 home winners over Esthwaite Vale.

These results leave Kirkby Thore 1 point clear at the top with Langwathaby Utd, Endmoor and Braithwaite chasing. The team to watch out for is Braithwaite as they have 4 games in hand, however Langwathaby are in red hot form at the moment so they are another side to watch out for.

At the bottom Windermere SCA prop up the rest with Dent’s reserves just above.

That’s the Westmorland League bang up to date now, please check back on Friday where I will preview Saturday’s action.

Hope you enjoy your week
