Hello, there’s another action packed weekend in The Westmorland League coming up. Points are important for a lot of teams in each division for different reasons, so expect a lot of interesting score lines as the season progresses.
I went to Kendal County vs Lunesdale United last Saturday and County are looking sharp, and dominant at the moment, can’t remember the last time they lost a match, must be a while now?
Finally I am pleased to read that the Jubilee playing fields are being sorted out for the 2008-2009 season. The pitches had to be closed due to the state of them and trust me they are in a state at the moment. But they are going to be re-laid etc in time for the new season. Kendal Celtics 1st and reserve teams as well as Ibis 1st and reserves play on those fields.
Anyhow here’s a rundown of each division:
Division 1:
There’s a lot going on in the division this weekend, here are the fixtures:
Burneside vs Greystoke: I may be going to this game if I do look out for photographs on here this Sunday.
Keswick vs Appleby
Lunesdale Utd vs Coniston
Sedbergh Wanderers vs Ambleside Utd
Windermere SC vs Kendal County
Game of the weekend: Kendal County’s away trip to Windermere, a chance for County to continue their good run of form, but Windermere will be looking to cause an upset
Division 2:
Only 1 match in the division this weekend, leaders Kirkoswlad are home to Kendal Celtic, a good match to watch as both sides have a lot of talent.
The Mason and Freeman Cup 2nd round is the main action going on in this division. Ibis reserves are home to Windermere’s reserves whilst Shap are home to Staveley Utd.
Division 3:
Only 3 matches this weekend, Ambleside Utd reserves have a chance to go top with a home match against Burneside’s reserves, other matches include Cavetti Utd’s reserves home to Lunesdale Utd’s reserves and the match of the weekend for me is Penrith Rangers reserves home match with Endmoor KGR.
Division 4
Most matches as usual are on this weekend in this division,
Coniston reserves vs Braithwaite
FC Milnthorpe vs Langwathaby Utd
Greystoke reserves vs Dent reserves
Kendal Celtic reserves vs Windermere SCA
In The Austin Wren cup 2nd round, Burneside’s A team are home to Esthwaite Vale and Endmoor KGR’s reserves are home to Kirkby Thore.
Division matches kick off at 2.30pm and cup matches kick off at 2pm
That’s a rundown of the Westmorland League done, if I do go on Saturday look out for photos of Burneside’s home match with Greystoke.
Hope you have a good weekend
