Hello,

It's been a while since i did a decent blog on The Westmorland League, so i figured now was as good a time as any too do one.

The past few weeks in each division have been quite exciting. Division 1 on the whole is dominated by Kendal County again whom just keep winning and winning. They are a new team this season compared to last and despite the playing personnel changes they made at the start of the season there dominance is still impressive.

I saw them at home to Greystoke last Saturday, and in truth they maybe didn't play as well as they can but despite all that they still won 4-0. Greystokes biggest problem for me was there lack of finishing up front, maybe if they had that finisher on Saturday the score line may have been different. But to be fair to Greystoke they did show alot of effort and gave County a match despite losing 4-0. Greystokes keeper made some fantastic saves as well in the game.

I have done some photographs which i have put in these blogs of that match.

Division 2:

This division is wide open, its a division that any one of 4 sides can win. You have the leaders in Staveley United who are 3 clear of Kirkoswald who are in 2nd. And then you have Shap and Penrith in 3rd and 4th who have played less games than the top 2 and are well and truly in the race for the title.

Below that theres the likes of Kendal Celtic,Kendal Countys reserves,Wetheriggs, Windermere and Dent, who i would class as the teams with potential for the future, infact where they are now is probably right at this moment. Kendal Celtic inparticular will run the top sides close next season no question, the biggest problem I think Celtic have had is that they are having to play all there home games on away teams grounds as the Jubilee playing fields are in no fit state at the moment.

Division 3:

Again another wide open division, however Ambelside Utds reserves still hold the advantage, they are top of the league, 2 clear of 2nd placed Appleby and have games in hand.

There are probably 2 teams other than Ambleside that can still win the division, Applebys reserves in 2nd and Wetheriggs in 3rd. Endmoor KGR are 4th they could make an impact for the division so they have an outside chance.

Kendal Utd won't win the division this season, again like a few other teams theres alot of potential in the squad, i think some inconsistent form cost them from winning the division, but you would think they would push for the divison next season.

Division 4:

Well its a 3 horse race for this division, the leaders are currently Braithwaite, with Langwathaby a couple of poinst behind in 2nd followed by Kirkby Thore in 3rd. Braithwaite have only lost 2 whilst the other competitors have lost 5 and 6 respectively.

The good thing about this division is that the top 4 are bang in form at the moment. It will be interesting to see how things pan out in the weeks to come.
