This was the 1st time ever that Kendal Celtic played Ibis. This also has to be the 1st time that a local derby has been played out of Kendal!

As Celtics usual home the jubilee playing fields weren't up to standard they have had too up sticks and move to The Frenchfields in Penrith whicb is 25 miles away from Town.

Despite this inconvenience, both sides were involved in an entertaining encounter at the weekend.

Ibis started the match the better of two sides putting Kendal Celtic under early pressure However once Celtic managed to gain some control in the game they gradually started to dominate. Celtic then created their 1st chance in the 13th minute when Ashburns cross was headed onto the cross bar by Baker.

From the resulting corner Celtic missed another great chance when Downey headed wide.

However after a tight period in the match Celtic took the lead just before half time from the penalty spot. Cotton was brought down leaving the referee with no option but to award the decision.

Wronski stepped up and placed the ball into the left hand corner of the ner with a composed finish.

In the 2nd half Celtic were in control of the game and soon went 2-0 ahead when Baker headed into the back of the net.

With Celtic dominant Ibis pushed forward but paid the price for pushing so many men on the attack as Celtic caught them on the counter attack.

Wicks got the ball fired it forward for Baker who ran onto the ball to slot past the keeper.

Baker soon got his hat trick goal and made it 4-0 after slotting the ball home from close range.

Kendal were really dominant and Ibis were thankful to their goalkeeper for keeping the score down.

Ibis did grab 2 consolation goals late on when Knowles headed past the Celtic keeper.

This was shortly followed by a 2nd for Ibis when Hardiker headed home from a corner.

Overall a very good all-round team performance. Keeping a good shape, looking like a formidable team. Within the team performance everyone contributed, with some excellent individual performances. Man of the match would have to go to Baker, a hat-trick and looked dangerous every time he got the ball.
